Domestic Self Storage Can Solve the Space Problem

If you’re like most people you’ve got way too much “stuff”. Why do we let it accumulate like it always does? Even very large and spacious homes inevitably seem to get filled with furniture, toys, books, dishes, odds and ends, computers, televisions, clothes, shoes, and all the hundreds of things that accumulate in a typical home.

One way to deal with the accumulated piles of stuff is to go through it every year or two and dispose of everything you absolutely don’t have a need for. Pitch the old electronic items, pass those old clothes on to a clothing recycler, take the books to a used book outlet. In some cases you may go the extra mile and join with a few neighbours to hold a community yard sale.

Another way to deal with your stuff is to use domestic self storage. This is probably the best way to free your home from the clutter without having to make the decision to actually get rid of it.

Often a temporary storage solution is all you need. Renovating a room or two in your home will quickly make you aware of the clutter. When that happens it is not usually possible to just move furniture from one area of your home to another area.

Having a storage area in your home - like the attic or garage - is good, but it is unlikely your will be able to move everything there because it may already be cluttered with stuff. So something has to give.

Rather than rearranging your entire home it is often easier just to rent self storage space for a short period of time while the while your home is being torn apart and put back together. Once you have rented a self storage unit you may even move some stuff into it that you weren’t initially planning on.

One good thing about renting domestic self storage space, rather than, say, moving your things to a friend’s place is that it is kept safe and dry. It is also accessible just about any time of the night or day, and it is insured against damage, theft or other calamities such as fire.
