Visit Alton Towers
Alton Towers, a Great Family Day Out
Alton Towers is one of The uk’s most popular visitor attractions. Alton Towers is a theme park, located in the picturesque Staffordshire landscape – but despite its quiet and tranquil setting, it offers lots of thrills for visitors.
Alton Towers is an excellent family outing, since it offers stacks of rides suitable for all ages from some of the biggest and fastest white-knuckle roller coasters in the country, to some smaller, gentler rides which will appeal to younger (or possibly older!) family members.
Some of the “headline” rides do specify a minimum height, so the kids might not be allowed on for their own safety.
Fortunately there are ample other activities from kid’s rides like the Beastie, or children can test their skills in the driving school.
Although many people go to Alton Towers for the well-known rides, remember that there are also some attractive gardens to enjoy, which may appeal to some family members. Alton Towers also has a water park on site – though this is actually a separate attraction and you need to buy different tickets from the theme park.
There’s no denying, the Alton Towers Resort isn’t the cheapest attraction you can visit (though it might be the most fun) – but it’s possible to make savings: Booking in advance on the web is less expensive than buying your tickets on the day. There are also family tickets, group discounts and a wonderful-value two-day pass – any of which will ease the load on your wallet.
There are two hotels on site: The Alton Towers Hotel and Splash Landings. These are ideal if you want to get an early start, or if you want to spend more than a single day at the resort.
Rememberto check the Alton Towers opening times before your visit, as these can vary during the year.
It would take too long to list all the rides – but here are a few of the best:
Nemesis is widely regarded as one of the best rides in the UK, and indeed a recent opinion poll rated it as number three in the world! It’s an inverted roller coaster (meaning you don’t sit down in it, and your legs dangle free). With a maximum speed of 50mph, you’ll experience as much as 3.5g as you hurtle through the air, experiencing vertical loops, stall turns and more.
Air was the first Flying roller coaster in the world – and you’ll feel like a Super-Hero as you soar face-down around the track. Air is a unique ride – quite unlike a traditional ride, and is always one of the most popular rides in the park.
Oblivion – the first vertical drop roller coaster in the world is quite different – it offers visitors the chance to dive 180 feet into a black hole in the ground. Designed to be scary, it undoubtedly succeeded, as local people took Alton Towers to court complaining about the screams!
Whenever you decide to go – you’re sure to have a fantastic day at Alton Towers!.
